Sage Rochester is an affiliate of SAGE (Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders) the world’s oldest & largest non-profit agency addressing the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender elders and has affiliates nationwide.
SAGE Rochester, a program of the Out Alliance, is a voice for Rochester’s older gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, queer, and intersex adults. We provide opportunities for personal growth, connection to community, and access to senior services.
We are open to all ages and members in the community, but our concentration is in educating, advocating, and serving the needs of the fifty-plus LGBTQ+ population.
As an affiliate of SAGE USA (Services and Advocacy for GLBTQI Elders) we receive up-to-the-minute information on research and policy issues that effect older adults and have access to state and national resources.
We meet every Tuesdays & Thursdays at the LGBTQ Community Center at 100 College Ave, Suite 100, Rochester, NY 14607.
10:30am is YOGA with Tom. Fee is $5.00
11:30am is our Lunch n Learn (catered or potluck)
12:30pm or later is scheduled programming
The above schedule is most of the time, however changes occur due to programming events and cancellations. See our calendar in the Empty Closet newspaper or better yet come and join us and pick up your calendar in person.
There are many activities planned for after lunch including movies, games, crafts, educational speakers, and even outings.
All programs are open to the public and all are welcome. The Senior catered lunch and Thursday Euchre are $3, as are some other programs offered, to offset costs. Senior Yoga is $5 per person and is offered every Tuesday and Thursday unless specified in the calendar. Multilevel Yoga on Tuesday evening is open to all ages and is $15 per person. All programs are subject to change.
We also offer fun, off-site activities and seasonal programming. We host a monthly breakfast group, coffee times, summer picnics, hayrides, seasonal dances, movies out, museum tours, fish frys and much more.
In communities across the country, SAGENet- SAGE’s network of local affiliates, is building a movement to reduce isolation, improve financial security and enhance the quality of life for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBTQ+) older adults.
Through SAGENet, these local leaders draw on the wisdom of their peers to implement programs and services that address the most urgent issues facing LGBTQ+ elders.
SAGENet is comprised of 27 affiliates located in 20 states around the country, across every region of the country. These affiliates provide services and programs to LGBTQ+ older people in their local communities. They also work on local, state, and federal advocacy to ensure that public policies better support the needs of LGBTQ+ elders.
We are proud to be an affiliate of this great organization. For more information on SAGE, please visit their website: www.sageusa.org.
